Winlock has been supplying the UK fenestration industry with UK made handles, locking systems and security devices for over 30 years. Winlock also remains the only volume supplier of UK made window handles.

Following the merger of its activities with Easyfit Hardware in 2013, it has offered a much broader range of own-brand products. These ranges include friction stays, door hinges, door handles, window and door locking systems. Moreover, Winlock offers a host of niche products and accessories that have been designed to make fabrication, installation and maintenance easier and more secure.

Document Q Solutions

Document Q relates to the Building Regulation security requirements for all windows and doors in new dwellings in England and Wales and came into effect initially in October 2016. It now applies to all new build sites other than those already under construction before October 1 2016.

A key requirement of Document Q is that doors and accessible windows on new build site must be shown by testing to meet the requirements of PAS024 (initially the 2012 edition). Our interpretation of this requirement is that the testing must be independently conducted at a UKAS accredited test house

(if the test centre is not UKAS accredited how can compliance with the standard be assured?).

The problem for fabricators who supply relatively little to new build is how to justify this cost. READ MORE
